The anti-Soviet uprising in Dagestan, led by Nazhmudin Gotsinsky, took place from September 1920 to May 1921. At the peak of the uprising, the rebels almost completely controlled three of the nine districts of Dagestan: Avar, Andi and Gunib, and in three more there were hostilities: Darginsky, Kazi-Kumukhsky and Temir-Khan-Shurinsky.
